Design Public Hearing - Replacement of North Leverett Road Bridge
What is happening? MassDOT is holding a Design Public Hearing for the replacement of the bridge carrying North Leverett Road over the Sawmill River in Montague. This project includes full bridge replacement including new abutments. In addition, the project includes roadway approach work, drainage improvements, overhead utility relocations, and scour countermeasures along the banks of the river on the northeast and southwest of the bridge.
How will this affect you? The bridge has been in need of replacement and is currently in an alternating one-way configuration. A new bridge will make North Leverett Road a two-lane roadway over the River again. The construction of the project will be built in phases so that no detours will be needed and cars and trucks can continue normal use of the road.
