Unclassified/Level 0: This group of offenders are in the process of being classified by the sex offender registry board. They only have to register directly with the SORB.
Level 1: Low risk of re-offending. These offenders register directly with the SORB by mail. Their information is for law enforcement purposes only, not for release to the public.
Level 2: Moderate risk of re-offending. These offenders register directly with the police department in the city or town where the offender lives within two calendar days of being notified of their classification. Dissemination of these offenders information is passively disseminated. Any civilian 18 years of age or older, with positive identification, can go to the local police department and fill out a written request form to obtain the offenders information. These forms are confidential but are kept on file by the department.
Level 3: High risk of re-offending. These offenders register directly with the police department in the city or town where the offender lives within two calendar days of being notified of their classification. Level 3 offenders information is actively disseminated by posting of community notification fliers throughout the city or town. These may also be obtained by any civilian 18 years of age or older, with positive identification, by going to the local police department and filling out a written request form. These forms are confidential but are kept on file by the department.
