Brief Description:

INVITATION FOR BIDS: Franklin Regional Council of Governments (FRCOG) will accept sealed bids on behalf of the Town of Montague for Shared Streets Improvements. Sealed bids, plainly marked "Montague – Shared Streets 2021 Bid” will be received by FRCOG, 12 Olive St. Ste 2, Greenfield, MA 01301, until SEPTEMBER 10, 2021 at 11AM, at which time they will be publicly opened and read. Wage rates are subject to prevailing wage per MGL Chapter 149, Section 26 - 27f . Bid is per MGL Ch 30 §39M requiring a 5% bid bond and 50% Payment Bond. Specifications and plans are available from https://frcog.org/bids. A non-mandatory, but highly encouraged prebid meeting is AUGUST 31, 2021 AT 11AM, starting at 147 Second St, Turners Falls, MA. The awarded contractor shall endeavor to meet Workforce Participation Goal Requirements under M.G.L. c. 149, § 44A(2)(G) which are currently 6.9% for women and 15.3% for minorities. The Town of Montague is the awarding authority and reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids in total or in part as they may deem in the best public interest.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Work is a Commonwealth of Massachusetts grant funded Shared Streets project to improve Turners Falls Unity Park Connectivity per the attached Special Provisions.

The overall proposed project involves traffic calming measures and safety improvements in order to provide crosswalk and downtown gateway enhancements around Unity Park and the 2nd Street Skatepark. The scope of work involves sidewalks and crosswalks and extends curbing to reclaim more space for pedestrians and improve connectivity adjacent residential neighborhoods.

All work is to be completed during the 2021 Construction Season.
