The Town of Montague is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $34,000 Planning Assistance Grant from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy & Environmental Affairs (EOEEA) Division of Conservation Services (DCS). This funding will support the development of a comprehensive ten-year Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP), replacing the previous 2017 plan which is now expired.
The updated OSRP will serve as a strategic action plan to guide the management, protection, and enhancement of Montague’s valuable conservation and recreation resources. The new plan will be crafted through an inclusive community engagement process to ensure it reflects the diverse needs and interests of our residents.
Once completed and approved by EOEEA, the updated OSRP will enable Montague to apply for various state grants to support the implementation of its conservation and recreation initiatives, fostering a healthier, more vibrant community.
Both the Department of Planning & Conservation and the Recreation Department will collaborate in this effort, overseeing the update and ensuring its successful adoption and execution.
