COVID-19 Information

2/20/24: Masking Recommended

The Valley Health Regional Collaborative, which includes Greenfield, Montague, Deerfield, Sunderland, Leverett, and Shutebury, has issued a recommendation to wear masks when indoors and when social distancing is not possible outdoors. This recommendation is based on wastewater epidemiology, the number of cluster events, the positivity rate of testing for COVID-19, hospitalizations from COVID-19, and case counts within our towns as a whole.

We will continue to evaluate data on a weekly basis in order to provide the most up to date information on COVID-19 in our communities. Please check back for weekly updates.

Covid and Flu Vaccine Clinics:

The CDC recommends everyone 6 months and older should get an annual flu vaccine and be up to date with COVID-19 vaccination. Everyone 5 years or older should receive 1 dose of the latest covid-19 vaccine (at least 2 months after most recent covid-19 vaccine). Children aged 6 months to 4 years and those who are immunocompromised may require multiple doses to be up to date - please contact your healthcare provider to learn which dose schedule is appropriate.

As Fall arrives, temperatures will begin to cool, children will return to school, and Holiday gatherings will be on the horizon. This means that we will likely continue to see a rise in COVID-19 case counts and hospitalizations.
We encourage Montague residents to stay informed about the latest vaccination guidance, utilize COVID-19 rapid tests when experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms, and most importantly, stay home from work, school, and social gatherings if you are sick.

Please Visit this page for the latest information regarding COVID-19 vaccinations, boosters, treatment, and other resources.

For Free Rapid Tests, please visit https://www.covidtests.gov/. Since November 20, 2023 this has been updated, 8 test kits per household are now available (including the 4 available previously if you ordered once this fall).

The Montague Health Department is providing free COVID-19 rapid tests at the Montague Town Hall:
Test kits are available on the first floor of the Town Hall as well as at the Board of Health office located on the second floor. Stop in during business hours to grab free test kits for you and your family. No appointment necessary.
