Election Information

UPCOMING ELECTIONS:

October 6, 2026: This will be a dual election. The hours will be from 12pm to 8pm and voting will take place at the usual polling places (see below). A dual election means that there will be two separate ballots and two separate voter check-in lists.

• Franklin County Technical School District Wide Election
• Six Town Regionalization School District Election

The last day to register to vote for the October 6, 2026 Special Town Election is Saturday, September 26th. You may register until Thursday, September 24th in the Town Clerks office during normal business hours. The registration box will be placed at the Montague Police Station lobby, 182 Turnpike Road, Turners Falls 01376 from 5:30 PM Thursday, September 24 until 5:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Please note there will NOT be any in-person early voting for these elections.

VOTING BY MAIL

Please note that Vote by Mail is not part of the Franklin Tech Building Project Election. Only the Six Town Regionalization election includes vote by mail.

If you will be out of town on October 6, and wish to vote in the Franklin Regional Technical School Building project or the Six Town Regionalization District election, you may do so via absentee ballot. More information and an application is available here.

November 3, 2026: The hours will be from 7am to 8pm.

ANNUAL TOWN ELECTION

Montague’s Annual Town Election is always on the third Tuesday of May

Voting hours at each polling location is from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES

State law prohibits the display of political paraphernalia within 150 feet of the entrance to the polling location. Signs, stickers, and even lapel buttons are not permitted within this restricted zone. State regulations also prohibit political solicitation within the restricted zone.

Voters may take their own personal notes into the polling place as an aid to assist their voting. This information cannot be shared with other voters or left in the polling place.
