As always, but even more so during these times, we strive to provide the best treatment of wastewater possible, in order to protect both the public and environmental health of our community.
The Montague Water Pollution Control Facility seeks to promote the conservation of local wildlife supported along the Connecticut River by effectively treating the wastewater stream to national pollution discharge elimination standards. The facility also seeks to promote public health through treatment, reducing pathogens and nutrient loadings, which in turn help to protect the recreational use of the river.
The facility treats industrial and residential wastewater from the villages of Turners Falls, Montague City, Montague Center and Lake Pleasant. See the additional pages for more information.

The WPCF is responsible for the operations of the Treatment Facility, Pump Stations (8) & Pump Station force mains.
Sewer abatement requests can be made to the Town Hall Selectboard office or to the WPCF. Be advised that a request must be submitted within 30 days of the bill date per Massachusetts General Law. Sewer Abatement Request Form.
The WPCF & water districts are seperate departments. The water districts provide water use readings to the Town Hall & WPCF for generation of the fiscal year sewer use bills.
